In an email sent to its members, Kickstarter revealed that its website had been hacked. The hackers managed to get access to personal user information like username and password, but fortunately credit card information was secure.
CEO Yancey Strickler wrote in a post, “On Wednesday night, law enforcement officials contacted Kickstarter and alerted us that hackers had sought and gained unauthorized access to some of our customers’ data.” “Upon learning this, we immediately closed the security breach and began strengthening security measures throughout the Kickstarter system,” she added.
