CES always plays host to a ton of unusual vehicles, and this year's no different — I spent the morning riding the Acton M Mobility Scooter around a parking lot outside the Las Vegas Convention Center. There's more to the device than appears at first glance; it looks like a fairly regular electric scooter, with a top speed of 15mph and range of 15 miles on a single charge. But the Acton M has a few transforming tricks up its sleeve.
Its wheels, handlebar, and seat can be folded away for easy storage — a representative gave the example use cases of carrying it on a train or keeping it under your desk at work — and with the seat retracted, the scooter can be ridden in standing position. Riding it is smooth and easy, feeling a lot less precarious than something like a Segway. The Acton M went on sale a couple of weeks ago after a successful Kickstarter campaign last year, and retails for $1799.99.
