Gone in 90 seconds: Xiaomi sells 100,000 Mi3 smartphones

Xiaomi today announced that its latest batch of 100,000 Mi3 smartphones were snapped up in 86 seconds while it sold 3,000 units of its MiTV smart TV in under two minutes. The MiPhone 3 features a 5-inch full HD display and comes with the option of Nvidia Tegra 4 or Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 chipsets. It is priced at $327 (Rs 21,500) for the 16GB version and $408 (Rs 27,000) for the 32GB variant. The $490 (Rs 32,300) Xiaomi smart TV features a 47-inch 3D HD LCD and will run on Android atop Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 600 chipset. The two devices were announced last month.
The Chinese smartphone sensation retails is products exclusively online and makes its phones available in batches of 100,000 units. Earlier this year, it launched its sub-$200 Android smartphone that garnered 7 million pre-orders. Its first batch of 100,000 units was also sold in under 90 seconds.
