Tyler Winklevoss May Not Have Invented Facebook, But He Is Dating A Brazilian Model

Tyler Winklevoss, of the Winklevoss twins and early Facebook history, is dating a Brazilian model named Loris Kraemerh, according to Caras.
A source close to the situation confirmed the report for BI.
"The two have been dating for five months, since they met at a party year end in Florianopolis," a source tells Caras.
"After the party, Tyler returned to New York and Loris went to work there anymore. She even declined to accept jobs in Brazil to spend more time close to him."
Kraemerh seems to be a high-fashion model.

HOUSE OF THE DAY: A Real Estate Tycoon Is Selling His Insane Hamptons Home For $58.5 Million

Real estate investor Andrew Borrok has once again listed his 20,000-square-foot mansion in the Hamptons for $58.5 million, according to The Real Deal.
The eight-bedroom home in Water Mill was first listed for the same price back in 2010, The New York Post reported. Borrok originally bought the property in 2003 for $3.6 million.
The estate, which is currently listed with Douglas Elliman, has a tennis court, Jacuzzi, infinity pool, eight fireplaces, a wine cellar, and a private pier right on Mecox Bay. It sits on four acres of land.
The property also comes installed with Crestron security cameras that can be controlled and monitored from anywhere in the world — an important security measure for anyone willing to spend $58 million on a house.
The home was previously listed with Douglas Elliman for an undisclosed price back in January of this year.

This Star Is The Size Of Manhattan, But Heavier Than The Sun

manhattan and a neutron star
A neutron star is the densest object astronomers can observe directly, crushing half a million times Earth's mass into a sphere about 12 miles across, or similar in size to Manhattan Island, as shown in this illustration.
The awesome illustration above, from NASA, shows how Manhattan compares to the size of a Neutron star — they are both about 12 miles across.
Neutron stars are the crushed up core of massive stars, after they run out of fuel. Without a steady energy source, the star collapses under it's own weight and explodes out it's outer layers. They spin up to 43,000 times per minute and have a magnetic fields a trillion times stronger than Earth's.
Sadly, we could never actually see this happen since neutron stars are so incredibly dense the Earth would be destroyed in it's presence. A teaspoon of a neutron star's matter would weigh a billion tons on Earth.
The illustration came from a NASA press release, based on a new Nature paper published May 30. The study details a weird phenomenon that the Swift X-ray Telescope observed — an intense X-ray burst, then sudden slowing of a neutron star's spin.
They called the phenomena an "anti-glitch" because it's the opposite of more normal "glitches" observed in neutron stars that rapidly speed up.

Up To $30 Billion Reportedly Stolen From Russian Winter Olympics Preparation

Sochi Olympics Russia
The 2014 Sochi Olympics are already expected to be amongst the most expensive in history, with reports that Russia will dwarf the $6 billion Vancouver spent in 2010 with an estimated final budget of $51 billion.
However, not all that money is being spent as it should, according to a new report from Russian opposition figures Boris Nemtsov and Leonid Martynyuk.
The pair have spent six months analyzing Sochi Olympics spending and concluded that the games will be a "monstrous scam" with up to $30 billion in funds stolen — more than half the already inflated budget.
Nemtsov and Martynyuk argue that the most expensive sports complexes were built without proper competition or public tenders, with contracts going to friends of Russian President Vladimir Putin for inflated price tags.
"It is obvious that Putin's friends are running the preparations for the [2014 Sochi] Olympic Games," Nemtsov told RFE/RL in an interview. "It is also obvious that one is reluctant to put his own friends behind bars. However, we cannot look at all this passively because the scale [of their activities] will only grow bigger. The embezzlement they are presiding over is not just some kind of children's game but a real threat to Russia's national security."
Nemtsov is a former deputy prime minister while Martynyuk is a member of the Solidarity movement. The pair say that the money wasted would be enough to provide housing for 800,000 people in Russia.

16 Brain Foods You Should Eat To Boost Productivity

girl eating berries
The ingredients you eat enter your blood stream and flow to the brain, so inevitably, the way you think, focus and work is literally the food you eat.
But you can increase this brain power by 20%, according to the World Health Organization.
"Food is like a pharmaceutical compound that affects the brain," Fernando Gómez-Pinilla, a UCLA professor of neurosurgery and physiological science, says in his research about brain foods.
"Diet, exercise and sleep have the potential to alter our brain health and mental function. This raises the exciting possibility that changes in diet are a viable strategy for enhancing cognitive abilities, protecting the brain from damage and counteracting the effects of aging."
To get an understanding of what's going to affect our body's energy system, we compiled a list of brain foods from Psychology Today and other sources that will improve the way you think and work.

The $605 Million Legal Marijuana Market Is Looking Awesome For Colorado

marijuana legalization
Reuters
On Tuesday, Colorado Gov. John Hickenlooper signed into law the first framework for a legal, regulated marijuana market in the United States.
Colorado expects the sale of pot to be a significant boon to state finances.
They're already planning for a hefty tax on the substance, and one look at the potential size of the industry has those involved salivating.
At the end of last month, when the bill was still under consideration, the Colorado Futures Center at Colorado State University released a report detailing the expected fiscal impact of the shift.
Even though the analysis doesn't include the economic benefits — we've already detailed several auxiliary firms that work for legal marijuana businesses that are poised to make a fortune from the securityfinancial data and advertising and product research needs of the new marijuana industry — it's still an exciting look into one of the most interesting emerging markets on the planet.

At New York Startup 1stdibs Employees Eat Catered, White-Table Cloth Lunches

After selling DoubleClick to Google for $3 billion, David Rosenblatt could have ridden board seats and startup investments off into the sunset, never working again.
Instead, Rosenblatt is now the CEO of a New York-based startup called 1stdibs.
1stdibs is an online antiques marketplace. In 2012, 1stdibs dealers sold $650 million worth of merchandise, with transactions averaging around $2,000.
Rosenblatt stepped in for founder Michael Bruno, who ran the company for 10 years before taking a $60 million investment from Benchmark in 2011 and bringing in his own replacement.
Rosenblatt hired up, took another round of funding, and he says 1stdibs traffic is up 200% over last year.
1stdibs sells fancy goods, and it's a pretty fancy place to work, too.
Every Wednesday, the company serves employees a catered white table cloth lunch.
A couple weeks ago, we stopped by during lunch and took a tour of the office.

Here's Steve Jobs Describing The Exact Moment He Decided To Do The iPad To Destroy Microsoft

steve jobs ipad
We just posted an old photo of Bill Gates with the first Microsoft tablet.
It reminds us of one of the great quotes in Walter Isaacson's Steve Jobs biography.
One of the people who was building Microsoft's tablet was friendly with Jobs' wife, Laurene Powell. He asked Jobs and Powell to come to his fiftieth birthday party.
Jobs went, reluctantly, says Isaacson. At the party, the guy was telling Jobs about the Microsoft tablet and how great it was going to be.
This did not go over so well.
Here, in his own words, Jobs describes what happened, and what he did next:
This guy badgered me about how Microsoft was going to completely change the world with this tablet PC software and eliminate all notebook computers, and Apple ought to license his Microsoft software. But he was doing the device all wrong. It had a stylus. As soon as you have a stylus, you’re dead. This dinner was like the tenth time he talked to me about it, and I was so sick of it that I came home and said, "Fuck this, let’s show him what a tablet can really be."

Pope Benedict Still Inspiring Shoe Trends

Thank God: Pope Benedict is still making footwear waves three months after the end of his papacy. The lavish papa, whose wardrobe was famous because of those red shoes (which for a long time were rumored to be Prada), has settled on a pair of brown loafers in the three months since he left the throne. The new shoes, which Benedict received on a 2012 trip to Mexico, were custommade by Armando Martín Dueñas—a third-generation cobbler in Léon, Mexico’s leather capital. The New York Times reports that the strong post-papacy endorsement has helped Dueñas’s business grow by nearly 30 percent. “It’s strengthened our entire industry,” he told the paper. “It shows that Mexico has been doing its homework. Our products are now being accepted around the world

Green-lipped mussel oil helps reduce exercise-induced asthma symptoms

Green-lipped mussel oil helps reduce exercise-induced asthma symptoms

Melbourne: A unique omega-3 supplement derived from the New Zealand green-lipped mussel significantly improved lung function and reduced airway inflammation in asthmatics who experience exercise-induced bronchoconstriction - also called exercise-induced asthma -an Indiana University study has found.

Timothy Mickleborough, professor in the IU School of Public Health-Bloomington, said his findings are similar to his studies involving fish oil but required a much smaller dosage of the supplement.
His new study found a 59 percent improvement in lung function after an airway challenge, and a reduction in airway inflammation, asthma symptoms and use of emergency medication.

"Not only does it reduce symptoms, which will make you feel better, but it potentially could improve athletic performance," Mickleborough said.

In exercise-induced asthma, vigorous exercise triggers an acute narrowing of the airway afterward, making breathing difficult. Other symptoms include coughing, tightening of the chest and excessive fatigue. About 90 percent of people with asthma have this condition, which also is found in an estimated 10 percent or more of elite athletes and as much as 10 percent of the general population without asthma.

Mickleborough`s study used Lyprinol/Omega XL, which contains PCSO-524, a patented extract of stabilized lipids from the New Zealand green-lipped mussel, combined with olive oil and vitamin E. PCSO-524 includes the five main lipid classes: sterol esters, sterols, polar lipids, triglycerides and free fatty acids, including eicosapentaenoic acid (EPA) and docosahexaenoic acid (DHA).

Previous studies involving PCSO-524 have found it to be effective in treating osteoarthritis, rheumatoid arthritis and inflammatory bowel disease.

Mickleborough`s study is the first to show that it is effective in reducing the airway inflammation experienced by asthmatic study participants diagnosed with exercise-induced asthma.

The study involved 12 men and eight women ages 20 to 24 and was conducted in the Human Performance and Exercise Biochemistry Laboratory in the Department of Kinesiology at IU. All study participants had physician-diagnosed asthma and documented exercise-induced asthma.

The results will be appearing online in the journal Respiratory Medicine.

How declining Arctic sea ice may influence atmospheric circulation

How declining Arctic sea ice may influence atmospheric circulationWashington: Reductions in Arctic sea ice levels may influence patterns of atmospheric circulation both within and beyond the Arctic.

This is according to a new research that explores the impact of 2007 ice conditions, the second lowest Arctic sea ice extent in the satellite era, on atmospheric circulation and surface temperatures.

Two 30-year simulations, one using the sea ice levels of 2007 and another using sea ice levels at the end of the 20th century, were used to access the impact of ice free seas. The results showed a significant response to the anomalous open water of 2007.

The results confirm that the atmospheric response to declining sea ice could have implications far beyond the Arctic such as a decrease in the pole to equator temperature gradient, given the increased temperatures associated with the increase in open water, leading to a weaker jet stream and less storminess in the mid-latitudes.

"In the context of decreasing Arctic sea ice extent, our experiments investigating the impacts of anomalous open water on the atmosphere showed increased heat transfer from the ocean to the atmosphere and warmer temperatures in areas of reduced sea ice. Comparing the model simulated circulation to the observed circulation for the summer of 2007 (the year of focus for the model experiments), we found the simulated circulation to be quite different than what was observed for spring and summer while more similar for autumn and fall," said Elizabeth Cassano from the University of Colorado.

Talking to a leading daily recently, KJo opened up about his plans to adopt a baby anytime soon. He went on to say that bringing home an adopted baby is his priority at the moment. “Tell me, who does not want to have a family to extend himself/herself?” reasoned Bollywood’s ‘one of the most eligible’ bachelors.

He further revealed that his mother, Hiroo Johar, is fully supportive of his decision. “My mom and I will bring up the child wonderfully”, he added.

Well thought Karan and we wish your ‘baby steps’ bring some more happiness in your life.

Want to wear oversized naths like Vidya Balan and Sonam Kapoor?

Want to wear oversized naths like Vidya Balan and Sonam Kapoor?

The two divas truly made us revisit the traditional nose ring style after their appearances at the 66th Cannes International Film Festival

While Vidya Balan’s oversized gold nath was very Maharashtrian in its feel and nature,Sonam Kapoor’s diamond studded nose ring was a perfect mix of classy and ethnic. You can easily pick these nose-decorating delights from the streets – be it in the vibrant flea markets of Goa or colourful small shops in Rajasthan. And if you want to loosen your purse strings, settle for a bespoke designer label, and give your own wacky touch to it.
While the Kapoor chick opted for a nose ring from her mom Sunita K’s collection, VB chose a Pankaj Surana nathni.

Oversized nose rings were already a hit at traditional Indian weddings and it looks like they are a success on the red carpet as well. So here are options you must try if you want to recreate the Cannes magic and get noticed in that gathering you go to next month…

North Korea's 5-Girl Pop Band Pushes Short-Skirt Propaganda On The People

Denise Garrido beauty queen
Denise Garrido was wrongly named Miss Universe Canada after a typo in the tabulation.
Miss Universe Canada made an epic fail Saturday night.
Denise Garrido, 26, was initially crowned Miss Universe Canada before she was stripped of her crown just 24 hours later — after a typo was discovered in the results tabulation.
“My reaction was shock and disbelief at the time, and I was so tired from a long day of photos and interviews that I didn’t know if I was hearing that correctly,’’ Garrido told Today.com. “I was a little bit embarrassed, thinking about how I would tell this to family and friends who were celebrating already."
However, Garrido says that “After stepping back and letting it sink in, it’s obvious that it actually was a blessing in disguise. If they had not made a mistake, I would’ve never experienced that moment, something I’ve always dreamed of. I don’t think I would’ve received as much attention if I won as I did with this error.’’
The mistake was discovered Sunday by a third-party audit that the pageant conducts every year.
Pageant director Denis Davila had to break the news to Garrido that a typo that occurred when the judges’ handwritten scores were entered into a computer program skewed the results.
Riza Santos Miss Universe Canada
Riza Santos was the actual winner, and has since been given the crown.
The new results crowned Riza Santos the actual winner, and Garrido third runner-up.
“It was highly embarrassing for Denise and the organization," Miss Universe Canada spokesperson Andrew Lopez told Today.com. "But when a mistake is made, you can either cover it up, or admit the mistake, and that’s what (Davila) did. At the end of the day, it’s a human mistake."
Garrido, for her part, is maintaining a positive outlook on the situation.
“I was meant to have that moment,’’ she said. “I was able to live the dream, and now it’s time for Riza to live it for the next year. I’ve received so much sympathy and compassion from people I don’t know, and I’m really touched by it. It has been a roller coaster of emotions, and now it’s onward and upward.”

13 Schools Where It's Almost Impossible To Fail

While flunking out of college is common, some institutions have lax grading policies that make it remarkably difficult for students to fail.
Whether its college, law school, or business school, we found 13 schools that make it nearly impossible for their students to fail.
Most of these institutions are elite private schools with extremely selective admissions. Some argue that the students who gain entry to these schools are highly qualified, and therefore they perform higher than the average university student regardless of their grades.
These schools also have lenient grading policies and high grade inflation. Some have abolished the letter grade system altogether, while others allow students to choose which grades show on their transcript.

Prior to the change, 10% of law students received an A, 15% received an A-, 15% received a B-, and 5% received a C+ or below.
Now, 12% get an A, 19% get an A-, and only 5-10% get a B- or below.
It puts failure that much further out of reach.

7 Valuable Things That Cost Less Than Flying An F-35 For An Hour

F-35 jet
A spokesman from the U.S. Air Force say the service has estimated that an F-35 will cost taxpayers approximately $35,000 an hour, reports Flight Global.
In comparison, one of the more historically successful fighter jets — the F-16 — cost around $25,000 an hour.
So that's one valuable thing that costs less than flying an F-35 for an hour, here's 6 more:
— A full year of education at just about any state university for out-of-state students
— A couple years of education at just about any state university for in-state students
— A full year of a preschool teacher working in Arkansas
— A 2013 Ford F-150 truck
— A half-year's worth of HIV medication
— A year of Israeli Krav Maga classes in New York City
The F-35 is the most expensive weapons system every developed, at approximately $1.4 trillion. To make matters worse, a recent study found the expensive jet was "not even ready for combat."
Consequently, the cost of the program over the next ten years is the same as the amount the Pentagon is being forced to cut.

Pictures Of Roger Federer Before He Was A Fashion Icon

Roger Federer, age 20b
Roger Federer recently caused a stir when he cut his hair, leading some to wonder what he was thinking when he chose a boring, short-haired look over his traditional wavy locks.
But while Federer, who is currently competing for his 18th grand slam title at the French Open, has been a bit of a fashion icon on the tennis circuit in recent years, it wasn't always the case.
In fact, a quick look back reminds us that making questionable fashion and style choices was the norm for Federer in his early 20s .
