Aishwarya Rai Bachchan and Mallika Sherawat – the two divas posed and paraded stylishly for the paparazzi at the amFAR do, at the 66th Cannes International Film Festival. The Cannes brouhaha, after reaching an apogee, may have started to peter out. But Ash and Mallika’s presence at the soiree managed to jolt us out of that uninterested mode. So Aishwarya Rai Bachchan was seen sticking to her high updo style. We wonder what’s with her fascination to make her face look all the more rounded. The Tarun Tahiliani gold saree is beautiful – gorgeous to the extent of making us want to invest in this one instead of in real gold. But it fails to flatter ARB’s still-rounded bod. The cellulite, the loaded upper torso, the heavy sheen – it’s overpowering the Former Miss World. Mallika Sherawat, on the other hand, sticks to her startlingly old-school matronly style. From the voluminous D & G black gown she wore at the premiere of Illewyn Davis to the leaden grey lace dress she opted for at am FAR – she looks like a French maid who’s trying to sneak into la-di-da ballroom event. Mal, after wearing that, don’t expect us to be your style pal. We kinda preferred your bare-dare wardrobe to this!
