Earlier this year, after inking deals with Sony Pictures Television and Disney UTV, BoxTV.com a video streaming service, was made available to users across India. Now, the Times Internet-owned service has reached a milestone, having recorded more than 50 million views in four months with more than 100,000 unique visitors accessing the website.
The statistics show that more than half of the user base accessed Bollywood movies and besides the metros in India, a large number of NRIs in USA, UK and the Gulf have also subscribed to the service to view regional content. In terms of content, 62 percent users accessed Hindi content, followed by 20 percent for English and 17 percent regional, which is largely lead by Tamil and Telugu regional video consumption

Delving deeper into the numbers, the service reveals that in terms of genres, 17 percent of users accessed romantic films, 16 percent action films, 15 percent dramas and the rest of the 52 percent accessed other genres like thriller, history, comedy, suspense, family, children and crime.
