Only a couple of days ago, Google announced a new update for Gmail, by adding a new tabbed interface that segregates emails by categories, hence reducing clutter. While many are still waiting for the update, but little known was the fact that users need to manually activate it by tinkering around with their Gmail inbox settings.
Users need to go to their inbox and click the settings button (gear icon on the top right), and select configure inbox. Once done, the new tabbed interface will be activated. By default users will get the primary, social, promotions, updates and forums tabs. Users can further customize the experience according to their preferences by adding and deleting tabs.
