Opera for Windows and Mac with Chromium engine at its heart comes out of beta phase

Opera Next, which was previewed back in May has finally come of the beta phase. The final release of the Google Chromium-based browser has launched as Opera for Windows and Mac with features like Speed Dial, Stash and Discover among others.

Opera has said that this version of the browser was ‘made from scratch’ and now uses the Chromium engine to offer users with a sleeker performance than before. Just like on Android, the desktop version too gets features like Stash and Discover— the former lets users save webpages for later, while the latter looks for content according to the user’s likes and accordingly recommends pages. Additionally, the Speed Dial feature lists the user’s favorite websites at one place for easier access.

Opera has also introduced an off-roading feature with a compression system that enables sites to open faster even on sluggish connections. On mobile phones, this feature not only loads websites quickly, but is also useful if you’re trying to browse on a 3G or patchy WiFi link.
