Sony PlayStation 4 to be available in US and Europe in the holiday season for $399, has no restrictions on used games

Sony walked into its E3 press conference in the aftermath of what many thought was a very good press event for Microsoft. But, Sony in this generation was playing underdog for perhaps the first time since it entered the market with PlayStation One. It announced that the PlayStation 4 would cost $399 and will be available in the US and Europe in the holiday season. This news has some interesting ramifications as for starters the console will not be available in Sony’s home market, Japan at launch and the PS4 is also cheaper than the Xbox One by $100. For Europe the console would cost 399 Euros, and in the UK it will cost 349 Pounds.
Sony went a little further to stick it to Microsoft as it explained in great detail that users could play used games, and it placed no restrictions on them unlike the Xbox One, which leaves matters in the hands of the developer. It was also announced that games did not need to be authenticated, and games would not stop working without an always on Internet connection that would run a check every 24 hours.
Sony also announced that PlayStation Plus (PS+) memberships will carry over to the PS4, but a PlayStation Plus membership would be needed to enjoy games online. Though all single player games and media services would be usable without a PS+ membership.
