Google celebrates India’s Independence Day with a doodle

Google is celebrating India’s 67th Independence Day in the form of a doodle on its homepage. The doodle is represented in the form of a tri-colored ribbon that is in the colors of the Indian national flag – saffron, white and green.
On 15th August 1947, Indian attained its freedom from British Rule and on the occasion Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru delivered his famous Tryst with destiny speech to the Indian constituent assembly in the parliament.
66 years later, Prime Minister Manmohan Singh in his speech today talked about the crisis in the state of Uttarakhand and also talked about yesterday’s incident regarding the INS Sindurakshak in which 18 sailors are feared to have lost their lives. He also lauded the Navy for its recent efforts that include the launch of the first nuclear powered submarine in the INS Arihant and the India’s first homegrown aircraft carrier the INS Vikrant.
He talked various topics ranging from national security to the state of the education system in India.
