The Giant Rubber Duck Gets 'Roasted' In Shanghai

Shanghai has put its own spin on the world's most famous inflatable yellow bird.
Photos of a "roasted" version of Florentijn Hofman’s giant Rubber Duck sculptureshowed up in the Chinese city this week, offering a clever take on the original 54-foot creation that graced the waters of Hong Kong earlier this year.

The design process took place during Shanghai’s scorching hot summer days, so we just thought: ‘Let’s roast it’,” duck designer Han Beishi told AFP. “Other inspiration came from an ancient Chinese poem: ‘The duck knows first when the river becomes warm in spring.'"

Hofman's duck is still making the rounds in waterways across the globe, heading to Pittsburgh next while larger version heads to Taiwan. Let us know your thoughts on the Huangpu River parody in the comments.
