Optical image stabilization (OIS) now seems to be a common feature in smartphone cameras, though it was first seen barely a year ago with the Nokia Lumia 920. Of late we have seen on multiple devices like the HTC One, LG G2 and even the Xolo Q1000s. Now it seems that Samsung is also developing one 16-megapixel camera sensor with OIS, according to a report by GSM Arena.
While the camera is under development, one should not bet that it will debut with the Galaxy Note III, because Samsung reportedly cannot mass produce the camera sensor, so it will probably only debut with the Galaxy S5 which will come next year.
Of course, Samsung already produces the Galaxy S4 Zoom that features a 16-megapixel sensor with OIS, but that’s more of a point and shoot camera than a smartphone camera and also integrates 10x optical zoom.
