Celkon Mobile gas launched the Monalisa ML5 smartphone in India for Rs 10,999, and it boasts of a quad-core processor clocked at 1.2GHz and has a 4.5-inch OGS display with a qHD resolution. The phone runs on Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean, which admittedly, is not the most recent version of Android, but still users can enjoy most of the new apps as Google is now iterating on the core Android apps at a break neck pace.
It also has 1GB of RAM, 4GB (1.71 GB user available) of internal memory and a microSD card slot that supports up to 32GB of storage. There’s a 1,800 mAh battery and the phone supports dual-SIMs. It has an 8-megapixel rear camera and a 2-megapixel front facing camera. As far as connectivity options are concerned it supports 3G networks, Wi-Fi and also has a microUSB port that doubles as the charging port.
At this price point it will compete with multiple local Android smartphones like the Lava Iris, Zen UltraFone and offerings from brands like Xolo and Micromax. In addition to this, it will also face stiff competition from the Nokia Lumia 520 which according to us is a fantastic purchase at that price point.
