Though the Gangs Of Wasseypur director’s new movie is all about child abduction, it looks refreshingly different and interesting
Anurag Kashyap’s new psychological thriller Ugly has been received well at the Cannes Film Festival this year. The aptly titled film is inspired by real life events in Mumbai, a city known for a high number of cases of child trafficking and prostitution. Kashyap is now all geared up to showcase his hatke offering to his own ghar ke audience.
Starring Ronit Roy, Rahul Bhatt, Tejaswini Kolhapure, Anshika Shrivastava, Siddhanth Kapoor (Shakti Kapoor’s son) and Vineet Kumar Singh, Ugly tells the story of the kidnapping of a little girl. The missing girl’s father, who seems to be an out-of-work actor starts hunting for the kidnapper and registers a police complaint. All he wants to do is find his missing daughter. But did he engineer the kidnapping?
Ronit looks impressive as the intense, brooding cop who would go to any lengths to crack the case. Tejaswini returns after a long hiatus, as the depressed wife. Siddhanth’s menacing look is intriguing.
